ABOUT ME
I like Les Canadiens du Montreal | Baba Ganoush | Lagavulin Single Malt | and motorcycle touring in Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka and India. | I like Bangkok | I love anywhere with an open road and no traffic | I’ve got a thing for Vietnamese coffee, Laos beer, and Thai curry | I love my old Mamiya C330 and Mamiya 6, but let’s be honest, I rarely use them anymore (sigh). | I love my family | I love my friends | Despite an acute fish allergy, I cannot shake an addiction to sushi, which is mostly limited to avocado and cucumber maki, but still, sooooo goooooddd…… | I love making pictures | I love mustard. Koscuiso, anyone? | I normally don’t fetishize gear, but make an exception for my 35 1.4 | Not that there’s much competition, but I’m pretty sure The Big Lebowski is the best bowling movie ever made | I like my iPad, but I refuse to fawn over Apple – don’t be fooled, they’re just another big corporation. But with really, really lovely design | I really like tennis and know Federer is the G.O.A.T. so just please stop it with the debate already | I’m also pretty sure Rafa is the 2nd G.O.A.T., with all due respect to Laver, Borg et al. | Although I have a degree in journalism, I kinda agree with the old hacks who say you shouldn’t go to journalism school – you just gotta live it, baby! | I love Montreal bagels in all their golden mouth-watering glory – in comparison, New York bagels are shameful, inflated doughballs | On the other hand, I’ve got a pretty massive crush on about a dozen NYC delis, which just about makes up for their bagel crimes | I love American micro-brews – like Maryland’s Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. Really, my Canadian/European friends – American beer can be rather amazing | I used to love backpacking, now I’m ashamed to be a bit of a flashpacker | In 1999 I visited Iran. It was particularly awesome. So was Turkey and Pakistan and India. And Nepal. | Favorite possessions? Old glasses frames and an Omega watch from a flea market in Tehran.
My background is in photojournalism, and for the past 8 years I have been based in Hanoi, Vietnam. I am a founding member of Vietnam Wedding Photography and Eden Images.
I’ve shot documentary destination weddings all over Southeast Asia, and in January 2011 I will be relocating to Bali, Indonesia to continue my work from there.
